Last year I bought a semester parking ticket because, even though I bike or walk in each day, my husband parks near my building and brings the baby up for a feed every day.
This year, I was thinking about how much this cost us and how it was not really feasible for my husband to walk in with the baby because baby falls asleep and is then not alert for the breastfeed. I thought it might be worth just checking with campus security to see if I could get some kind of reduced parking rate given that I actually bike to work and the parking is really only for 10 to 20 minutes. I sent them a quick email, and within an hour or so I had a phone call from the head of security.
He pleasantly requested my car registration, make and model and said he would tell his staff to leave our car alone and allow my husband half an hour or so each day without paying.
So despite not having funding to travel with a breastfed baby, I was feeling quite positive that there are people out there who are happy to try and make life as easy as possible for breastfeeding mums and their at-home-carers!
